Long-term Care Facilities
CGS provides integrated mental health evaluation and treatment to older adults and adults residing in long-term care facilities throughout the state of Maryland. Our assessments and treatments are based on a multidisciplinary team of geriatric psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, neuropsychologists, psychologists and social workers. CGS treats, as well as provides education and support to residents, staff and families. People who benefit most from CGS in this setting are those who:
- have Alzheimer's disease or related memory disorders.
- are experiencing depression, anxiety or other psychiatric disorders.
- have behavioral problems.
- have alcohol problems or other substance abuse.
- plan to return home after discharge from a rehab setting.
Based on an integrated neuroscience approach, our interventions include:
- Initial psychiatric evaluations
- Psychological and cognitive assessments
- Neuropsychological evaluations
- Psychotropic medication management
- Gradual dose reduction program
- Individual talking therapy and group therapy
- Behavior management
- Staff educational in-services
Referrals are welcomed from healthcare professionals, facility staff, family, friends or self-referrals.
CGS accepts Medicare assignment and participates with many other insurance plans.
